It is time to meet our June 7th - June 13th, Weekly Feature Creative, Lernik!
Creative's Name: Lernik Davityan
Type of Creative: Model
Genres: Swim & Fashion
Tell us about you! What is your story? Married, kids, fur babies? What things do you do besides your craft? I've been married to the most amazing husband for almost 9 years and we have the most beautiful 4-year-old twin daughters. I love dancing, whether I go out dancing or just home dancing around with my girls. I enjoy going to the movies and any time I spend with my family is always precious to me.
What has been the hardest part of being a model? How long have you been a model? On and off I've been modeling for about 10 years now. When I first started, the hardest part for me was to never get too down on myself if I wasn't selected for a show or a gig. I had to constantly remind myself that this is an industry with constant no's and constant turn downs, I made sure I stayed positive and always told myself that no matter how successful I get, I'm just going to enjoy every step of the way. My thought process early on has definitely made this industry a lot easier for me to handle.
What makes your passion shine and what are you most passionate about when you see your finished work? I work hard when on doing photo shoots, so when I see the pictures afterward and realize just how beautiful they turned out to be, that inspires me to want to do more.
Would you change anything that you have learned? What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind with your work? I honestly wouldn't want to change anything, I feel like everything that I have learned good or bad has made me the person I am today. The legacy I'd like to leave behind is someone who always worked hard for what they wanted, someone who never allowed others to define her success. I want to be as successful as I can be in this industry, but I want others to see that I'm someone that was truly happy with no matter what success I accomplished, big or small. I always treat others the way I want to be treated, so I was always happy for any model who got a particular gig over me and I hope I can leave that behind in my legacy for others to see that and hope they copy that mindset as well.
Among your works, which is your favorite & why? Any runaway show I do, it's my passion and it allows me to express myself.
What inspires you? Who's work has influenced you most? What is the most rewarding part of you? My family inspires me the most. Knowing the support they have for me, inspires me to give it all that I have and become the best version of me. Not one particular model has influenced me the most, any successful model I see influences me to want to work hard and accomplish what they have.
Modeling is a competitive field. What makes you stand out from the others? I think the biggest thing about me that makes me stand out the most is just how happy I am for other model's success. I am not one to get angry or jealous of another model if they get a gig over me, I'm truly happy for them because I know they're in this for the same exact reason as I am and I know they worked hard for it too just like me.
What is your greatest strength? What do you need to improve on? What are your goals? My positive mindset in this industry. My ability to get into character real quick during photo shoots and my catwalk. One area I would like to improve is being more toned. My main goal in modeling is to be the best model I can be.
Tell us something we wouldn't know about you, from looking at your portfolio. That I have 4-year-old twin daughters and I guess my age. I'm always told that I look younger than my age.
What advice do you have for people just starting out? Have a positive mindset. Try not to focus too much on what your end goal is, focus on making the best of what you have right in front of you, take it one day at a time and enjoy every second of it.
What is one accomplishment you achieved this year? I had taken some time since giving birth of my twins, so this year I decided to get back into the industry which was a big accomplishment for me because it has been a few years since I last did any modeling, so it really took some courage on my behalf to get back in front of the camera.
Thank you, Lernik, for sharing your creative journey with us! We love having you as part of the Artistic Alliance Community!
